This crochet strawberry bag pattern is a quick project to make and is a cute way to accessorize in spring! Check out the free pattern below.
This mini crochet strawberry bag pattern makes a strawberry purse that is just big enough to hold a phone and a few other small objects.
Strawberries are everywhere on social media and stores for being part of the spring/summer aesthetic. Some have even taken a step further and are incorporating it for cottagecore and kawaii aesthetic too, not just for summer. I personally love strawberries and wouldn’t mind having strawberries on everything I owned. Another great bag that fits the summer aesthetic is my crochet frog bag pattern.
This crochet strawberry bag is different from others because it is the actual shape of the strawberry. It also has a closing clasp up at the top so items inside are more secure.

✏️ Things To Note:
- I used acrylic yarn for this crochet strawberry bag pattern as it is what I had on hand, but either cotton or chunky yarn would be good to use in this pattern too.
- The crochet strawberry shaped bag is just enough to hold a phone and maybe a few other small objects. It is not meant to hold large or heavy items. Kind of like a small strawberry crochet purse.
- You can adjust the length of the strap depending on where you want the bag to lay on your side, or if it is for a kid. I personally have it right above my hip for length.

Row 28: Dec, sc x 16, Dec (18). Then ch x1 and turn. Fasten off and weave in ends.
Strawberry leaves:
The middle leaves x2:
This is the middle of the 3 strawberry leaves, so it is the larger one. You will need 2 of these.
Round 1: Make a mr, then dc x6. (6) Ch x2 and turn. DO NOT JOIN THE CIRCLE.
Round 2: Inc in every stitch (12). Ch 2 and turn.
Round 3: Inc, dc and repeat for the entire round (18). Fasten off and weave in the ends.
Tiny outer edge leaves:
You will need 4 of these leaves.
Round 1: Ch x5 (5) + 2 turning chs.
Round 2: Skip 2 chs and make a dc. Make another 4 dcs in the following chs. Make another dc in the last stitch to help turn it to the other side of the ch. Then make dc x5 for the following chains. Fasten off and weave in the ends.
Crochet the leaves to the bag.
Pin in place a small leaf, the big leaf, and then another small leaf at the top. This should fit almost perfectly with the top edge. Then take the green yarn on the hook and go through both the strawberry and green leaf, yarn over and pull out and finish like you would a single crochet. Then sc the entire edge with the leaves by making sure to go through the sc at the top and then through a closest “hole” on the leafs edge (which is usually at the end of each row).
When you are half through, so about 8-9 single crochets in, on one strawberry side you will chain 5 then attach the chain back into the same stitch you started the chain in by making a single crochet. Then you will continue to finish attaching the leaves.
On the other strawberry you will again go halfway on the top edge and then ch 4, in second chain from hook you will make a bobble stitch.
*A bobble stitch is made by yarning over, inserting the hook into stitch, yarn over, draw loop back through stitch, yarn over pull through 2 loops then STOP. You will have a half completed dc hanging from your hook. Repeat the steps 4 more times until you have 5 half completed dc stitches hanging from your hook and 6 loops ON your hook. Then yarn over and pull through all 6 loops.*
Single crochet into the chain you previously made before making the bobble stitch. Single crochet again until you reach the top edge of the bag again. Then continue to single crochet the edge of the strawberry bag and leaves together.
Sporadically embroider little white Vs on one side of each strawberry pieces.
Double stranding the white yarn gives a fuller look to the little V's.
Embroider both pieces.
Strawberry strap:
This is going to be the side of the strawberry as well as the strap of the bag. The amount of rows looks intimidating, but it works up really fast.
Row 1: Ch x6 +1 turning ch (7) and turn
Row 2: In the second ch from hook make a sc. Continue to make sc in each ch. (6)
Row 3-175: Sc x6 (6). Ch x1 and turn.
You may need to adjust rows depending on the size of the handle you would like, but also bear in mind that this is going to surround the 2 strawberry pieces you made earlier.
Fasten off but leave the weaving of the ends until the very end so you can adjust the length of the strap if need be.
Now that the crochet strawberry leaves are attached, you can use the same concept above for attaching the side piece to the front and back pieces.
With the embroidery and leaves facing outwards, line up the strawberry (right by the leaves) and the beginning of the strawberry strap.
Yarn over the hook using the red yarn and insert the hook into both the strap and strawberry. Yarn over and finish like a single crochet. Now crochet along the entire edge, making sure to grab both pieces.
Once you get to the other side of the bag fasten off and weave in the ends.
Repeat the process above for the other side.
Now that the bag has been made you only have the strap to sew onto the side that it is still not attached to. This is where you can put it on your shoulder and adjust the length of the strap if you need to by either adding more rows or taking a few rows out.
Once you are happy with the length, take your tapestry needle and sew it to the inside of the strawberry bag.
After all the sewing and weaving in the ends are done you are finished! You now have a new crochet strawberry bag!
