Amazing Deal!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have this setup for a dedicated Fax Machine because the Government does not allow transmission of sensitive information via fax-to-email or email. I got one year Free with the device. Also love the fact that Bestbuy Price Matches so I got this thing for a steal! I setup the device through the computer easily. I just plugged it in and went through the guided tutorial on the screen. There is a 911 fee that Magic Jack no longer pays for so be aware of that before you purchase the product. For my area it was only $6 a year. I was able to pick my own free number and finished the tutorial on screen. Then I plugged in the magic jack into an Ethernet port, plugged in the power, and the phone port in the back of my 4-in-1 printer. Now it was time to test the magic Jack. I sent and received test faxes without issue to the fax-to-email system I have at the home office without issue. Be aware that faxing isn't the intended purpose of this device so sometimes a high resolution (Photo) fax will fail/time out. Lower the resolution and it should go through (Super fine or fine). Please be sure to understand that a phone cable is not included with Magic Jack, but an Ethernet cable and charger cable is. Phone cables are generally included with phones and all-in-one printers so be sure you didn't throw yours away and have one on hand. If you don't have one, snag one while you're in the store. Overall I am highly satisfied with the device. It was easy to setup, inexpensive, and works for my needs. I also will be saving $324 a year when I renew my number next year. That's enough money to buy a new laptop! Would I buy again? Yes, I would; and I did buy another one for the accounting section of the office. My friend also bought one and is using it for his home phone saving loads of money each year! It's a terrific product, just be aware of the 911 fee going in and you won't be disappointed.

My Magicjack works great
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It was easy to set-up and I haven't had a problem. The best part is the cost, the first year is already paid for when you buy the MagicJack after that it's $35/yr. I was paying more than that every month with the phone company I had before.

Saving a ton of money!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got the urge to investigate ways to drop my Verizon home phone service, which was costing me in the neighborhood of $900.00/year. Visited a bunch of tech websites, ended up deciding that MagicJack Go was the best option. Extra bonus - when I started shopping for it, Best Buy had it on sale! Easy set up. I selected options to port my home number over and as soon as it was configured, outgoing calls used that number. Incoming calls had to wait 3 days (not the 2 weeks described) for Verizon to transfer my number, but they started coming in with no other work. Call quality seems great. I was worried about choppiness, delays, and break-ups. No problems. I don't think anybody who calls has noticed any change. Voice mails get emailed to me. I had a little goofiness configuring Gmail to play them, but that's not a MagicJack problem. Voice mails come as .wav attachments, which is a standard audio file format. One downside that keeps this from being a 5-star rating is that MagicJack doesn't support Caller ID with Name. If the number is programmed into the phone you use for a landline, the name you program will be shown, but other numbers only come in as phone numbers, not names. Other than that, I love it.

100% SATISFIED CUSTOMER
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. What took me so long? Good grief, for years I've been spending over $70.00 every month ($840.00 a year) with our area's mega landline telephone provider. A couple of weeks ago, I woke up from a nightmare in the middle of the night in a cold sweat. I had been doing calculations in my sleep about how much money i had wasted over the years. I remembered seeing an email from Best Buy about a product called MagicJack. Long story short, I went and bought a MagicJack, got back home and hooked it up in 5 minutes, went to the MagicJack website and configured the settings, along with porting my existing telephone number. Then I went to the telephone box outside and disconnected the big mega phone company's lines that came to the house from the telephone pole. TaDa...It's a beautiful thing. We have multiple phones upstairs and downstairs plugged into our original telephone wired wall outlets. Crystal clear reception. I purchased the MagicJack for $59.99, which included one year free service. After the first year, all i pay is $35.00 per year. That's $2.91 a month. If you want 911 availability, that will cost you another $6.50 per year, raising your yearly bill to approximately $41.50. I'm very much a skeptic when it comes to products and sales spiels with "Too Good To Be True" jibber jabber, but If you have high speed internet, MagicJack is a no brainer. I hope you can hear the excitement in my text here, because I seldom write reviews for products.

Working well - can't beat the price
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. In an effort to get around the bundled Internet/tv/phone price racket, I decided to have my phone number ported to the MagicJack. Now if I get some fantastic offer to come back to Fios, I'll just get Internet and basic tv only (I have Netflix and a Roku which provides all the tv anyone could want). MagicJack cost $40, which covers the unit and the entire first year or service. Thereafter it's something like $36/yr. Porting your phone number, if you want to keep your number, was around $20 one-time cost. Alternatively, you can just get a new phone number for free, one that telemarketers aren't aware of, and not have to put up with them. The quality has been fine. The unit can either be used with your computer, or cabled to your router, as I did. I have a winter home in Florida, so that tiny piece of hardware will come with me, allowing me to have my long-time phone number down there also. So far, no problem with quality, dropped calls, etc.

As good as my old Verizon FIOS landline phone
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The MagicJack Go works as good as my old Verizon fios land line phone. Only if the Magic Jack does not use the home phone house wiring, it's to long and magic jack works best with a short phone cable connected from the magic jack to a electronic cordless phone that has it's own power to ring the phone. Old phones with mechanical brass bells do not work well if at all with magic jack. The brass bells take to much power to ring well and magic jack has very little power output. I have five cordless Panasonic 6.0 cordless phones working off my answering machine base station. The USB connection to the computer is just to set up magic jack and when it's working use the power transformer that came with Magic Jack to power it.The computer does not have to be on for Magic Jack to work after it's set up and working. Magic Jack connects directly to your modem/router with a short cable. I had bad luck with Magic Jack Plus. The caller heard echo in my voice. My internet speed is 50 Ms download and 5 Ms upload. I also had problems not always hearing the caller and I had to instruct them to call back sometimes 3 or 4 time in order to hear them. I have none of this problems with Magic Jack Go. The price of the two models are about the same when you factor in the extra 6 months service with the "GO" model, and the "GO" model looks to be a newer design. The photos shows Magic Jack powered by the transformer plugged into a an ac extension cord and connected to the Magic Jack through a USB connection. A 1 foot internet cable connects the modem/router to the magic jack. and a photo of my base station phone hooked up to the magic jack with the cable that came with the Magic Jack.

Q: QuestionDoes anybody else have a problem when talking to someone on magic jack and the other person you are talking to hears beeping noises, which sounds like you are pressing the buttons on the phone while talking, even though you are not? What's the solution?
Asked by ck100.
- A:Answer Yes, it is common from time to time. Compare what you are paying for a year, with what you would pay with say a cable company. Huge savings with MagicJack, but from time to time some issues. I would only use it on high speed cable internet access, NOT on DSL. I recently purchased a new corded / cordless phone from Best Buy, and the clarity now is A LOT better. Make sure your phone is NOT a cheapy, you get what you pay for. Also shut down your cable modem for a min or so, once a week, and that seems to keep calls A LOT clearer. And if you have a call that last 1 hour and 45 minutes, you will get cut off. Tested in different locations, ALWAYS disconnects you. With that said, I AM GETTING READY TO RENEW FOR ANOTHER YEAR, it is worth it!!!
