This file cabinet is so awesome. It's very well built and sturdy. It's not cheap at all. It looks beautiful and functions perfectly. I like that only one drawer can be opened at a time so you don't unthinkingly open both and have it fall on you. The drawers are nice and big and fit lots of files. It's adjustable so it fits most file sizes. It took some time to assemble but wasn't too bad. I love how the drawers glide. They're so smooth. Neither drawer makes hardly any noise at all when opening and closing. This thing is so great and it looks like a dresser. I highly recommend this functional furniture piece.

After ordering a different file cabinet that arrived damaged, I was very hesitant to order another piece of furniture. I'm so glad I did!! This file cabinet is so much nicer than I expected! It is black, but it does show brown wood grain through the black color. This makes it look like a fairly nice piece of wood furniture. It arrived in perfect condition and VERY quickly. It did take a few hours to put together, but I was also doubling as a jungle gym for a two year old during assembly. Pieces all aligned very nicely for a solid looking piece. It is deeper than I expected (guess I never really looked at the depth dimension) from the picture. The only negative I have for this piece is that the bottom of the drawers is a cheap thin piece of material that won't hold much weight. I was hoping to store some books in it as well. But this is a file cabinet, not a chest of drawers, so I can't mark it down for that.

Nice File Cabinet for the price

I bought this because I had an older, metal filing cabinet that just clashed with everything in my office. The lateral style just looks classy. So, for $200 I thought, why not?

The upside: the price was good. It came completely unassembled, but with instructions and screws, etc to put it together. The only thing you needed was a screwdriver. Everything was labeled and easy to find in the box. If I could put it together by myself, then the majority of people could as well. The wood (MDF) was very heavy and sturdy. Made well as far as that can go. It holds all my files and I haven’t had any issues with it since putting it together. And it looks nice.

Cons: the wood scratches quite easily. Some pieces came in the box scratched (as in it wasn’t my doing). They are noticeable since it’s a dark almost black color and the unfinished portion can now be seen where it’s scratched. The instructions, though thorough could have been easier for the average person to put together. Not all parts were labeled in my box and that made it frustrating at times to construct. It all came in one box and that box was HEAVY. Some people (myself included) would need help getting the box inside your home before opening it up. More than one box would have made it easier to maneuver if you’re alone putting it together.

All in all, I’m satisfied with the way it looks and proud that I actually put it together without any help. It’s a nice piece especially for the price.

I assembled this cabinet fully without any problems. Yes there are a lot of pieces, but that's to be expected. While I'm good with particle-board furniture I'm otherwise not particularly handy, and while this took a couple hours of work it was not in any way challenging.

We wanted something aesthetically pleasing to replace a cheap metal two-drawer filing cabinet. For this purpose, I highly recommend it.

We also needed a cabinet that would accommodate legal paperwork, which it does. Our files go right-to-left in each drawer, not front-to-back, so I understand the gripes from those who store their files front-to-back and have trouble accessing the folders in the very back.

This cabinet resides in my home office, it is presently the nicest-looking piece of furniture in that office. I hope to upgrade the other furniture in that room in the near future, but this cabinet is here to stay.

All I had to do was send a few photos of the damaged part and they sent me a new one. Didn't even have to send the damaged part back! As for the cabinet we are very happy with it! Use the bottom drawer for filing and the top for storage for now. The drawers open easily (though you have to give a good tug to get it started, but that's perfect for us with a one year old running around). This file cabinet is a beautiful piece of furniture. The color is what I expected, and it is sturdy. Make note, it is very, very heavy - I would recommend putting it together in the location you intend it to be since moving it afterwards is difficult.

I must say I am very disappointed in the internal file hanging system itself. The metal rods for hanging the files do not stay in the holes they're placed in - they're just a bit too short to stay put. Often when I open the drawers, I have to re-seat them and rehang my files because they've slid off the rods. I may have to invest in a couple independent hanging file folder frames to keep that from happening.
